Stillwater - MMC Virtual Band

stillwater_virtual_band.jpg

In the face of a difficult year, music can still bring us together. The members of MMC came together to play Stillwater by Kelijah Dunton in this virtual band performance.

Kelijah is a graduate of the Grand Street Campus High School, the home of MMC. He wrote Stillwater when he witnessed the natural wonder of a partially frozen pond in Minnesota, where he was awarded as a leading composer of color.

MMC lifts Stillwater during a year of pause, but not a year of silence. Kelijah states, "now is the perfect time to overcome challenges, finding hope." We offer hope during a spring of anticipated renewal, recovery, and reunion.

Brooklyn Air - MMC Virtual Band

When our physical rehearsals came to an abrupt halt during the COVID-19 pandemic, the members of the Metropolitan Music Community created a virtual band to perform Michael Markowski’s “Brooklyn Air” under the direction of Jeff W. Ball. In this time of extreme unrest and uncertainty, we want to share something positive with our friends and supporters while we continue our work of building an inclusive musical community for all.

We wish to make more projects like this possible, please consider donating to help us make more like this in the future. Thank you and please enjoy “Brooklyn Air”.
