Each year, MMC presents a Modern Wind Symphony concert to showcase the important new music that is constantly being added to the concert band repertoire. Join three MMC ensembles as they celebrate the variety and depth of music in the contemporary wind band canon, with pieces both familiar and new.

The Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony and Riverwatch Symphonic Band join forces with the Brooklyn Wind Symphony for a performance that showcases works by classical greats Holst and Grainger, contemporary minds Jennifer Higdon and Kevin Puts, and young composers Minsoo Dixon and Benjamin Horne, both alumni of AYWS. Joseph Alessi, principal trombonist of the New York Philharmonic, performs, and the AYWS presents the world premiere of Grimm Tales by award-winning composer Bruce Broughton.
Joint concert featuring Brooklyn Wind Symphony and Grand Street Community Band. BKWS will perform at 12:30pm and GCSB will perform at 1:30pm

Join us for an outdoor performance! We’ll be playing concert band standards and pop hits in Forest Park, Queens!
Join MMC's ensembles including Kings County Concert Band, Grand Street Community Band, and Brooklyn Wind Symphony for the final concert of the season. This concert features grand landmark works for wind band coupled with newer works that have quickly become a cornerstone in the repertoire.

After the Modern Wind Symphony Concert, all audience members are invited to a reception featuring MMC's Jazz Ensemble! The reception will be located at NS Beer (8 Wilson Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11206). The Jazz Ensemble will begin its set at 9:30pm. Please join us!
Join MMC's ensembles including Kings County Concert Band, Grand Street Community Band, and Brooklyn Wind Symphony for a night dedicated to new works for wind band. The concert will feature Leonard Bernstein’s Suite from MASS with a special guest quintet from West Point and the New York City premiere of Kevin Day’s Concerto for Wind Ensemble. Works by Katahj Copley, Steven Bryant, Malcolm Arnold, Haley Woodrow, Anthony Barfield, and Pete Meechan will also be performed.

MMC ensembles resume their regular season concerts this winter. Join us on Saturday, December 11 to celebrate the return of in-person music making to the Grand Street Campus Auditorium.
